Migrating from QuickBooks Online to Growth Mission Control is simpler than you might think. This guide walks you through the entire process, from initial export to going live.
Step 1: Export Your Data from QuickBooks
Start by exporting your core data from QuickBooks Online. Navigate to Reports and export your Chart of Accounts, Customer list, Vendor list, and General Ledger. Save each as a CSV file. For invoices and bills, use the Transaction List report filtered by date range.
Pro tip: Export data in batches by year if you have more than 3 years of transaction history. This makes the import process faster and easier to verify.
Step 2: Set Up Your Growth Mission Control Instance
Deploy Growth Mission Control on your preferred infrastructure. We support Docker (recommended for most businesses), bare-metal Linux servers, and all major cloud providers. The setup wizard takes about 15 minutes and configures your database, user accounts, and basic settings.
Step 3: Import Your Chart of Accounts
In Growth Mission Control, navigate to Settings > Import and upload your Chart of Accounts CSV. Our intelligent mapper will match QuickBooks account types to our standardized categories. Review the mapping, make any adjustments, and confirm.
Step 4: Import Transactions and Contacts
Next, import your customers, vendors, and transaction history. The bulk import tool processes thousands of records in minutes. It handles duplicate detection automatically, so you don't need to worry about cleaning your export files first.
For each import batch, you'll see a preview of what will be created. Verify a few records, then confirm the import.
Step 5: Reconcile and Go Live
Run the built-in reconciliation report to compare your Growth Mission Control balances against your last QuickBooks bank reconciliation. Once the numbers match, you're ready to go live.
We recommend running both systems in parallel for one billing cycle to build confidence. After that, you can cancel your QuickBooks subscription knowing your data is safe, complete, and fully under your control.
